The Hermitage of Versailles (map)

A one-floor building situated along the park, it was finished in 1749.

The construction was made of five buildings, three close to the Castle and two by the park. Its curtains were made of cotton while the furniture was made of painted wood.
"I spent half of my life at the Hermitage," wrote Madame Pompadour to her friend Madame de Lutzelbourg.

The King was used to visit her after the hunting, he liked looking at the mirth, the lilacs, the roses, which matched perfectly with the bucolic style of the place.

Richard the gardener, in the middle of a French garden, put an octagonal structure that had once belonged to an ancient bathroom in Versailles.

At present it is hold in the "Orangerie".
Unfortunately most parts of the hermitage have been lost.
