Vincent Taillendier and his wife Geneviève who painted the dots created the oval decorated with a basket of fruit.

NOTES:
This vase is part of a vast and famous set committed by Catherine II of Russia to the manufactory of Sèvres and transported in Saint Petersburg in 1779. The Empress liked the neoclassical style and forms. This piece along with a few others was stolen from the Hermitage Palace in 1857 and bought by the fourth Marquees of Hertford in 1856-57.
