DESCRIPTION:
A desk “a cylinder du Roi”.

PLACING:
The original piece of furniture is in Versailles.

PERIOD:
1760-1769

NOTES:
This is undoubtedly the most famous piece of furniture in the world. It took nine years to make it (1760-1769). J. H. Riesener (the cabinet maker who changed the symbols of the Royalty during the revolution), probably worked at it.
Subsequently a few copies have been made that are still on the market today.
