A secretaire with wings, covered with panels made of lacquer.

Similar to the one in the portrait, this representation piece of furniture was conceived for a practical use. In its shape and technique it is an example of the Louis XV period. It was made by the cabinetmaker Bernard van Riesemburg 2° and shows the monogram BVRB and the approval printing JME, Juré de Monsiers et Ebenistes (a cold printing made with an iron matrix). The dimension is medium-small (130x105x44) in order to suit the quiet and more intimate rooms.
The curves of this piece of furniture are made evident by golden bronze vegetable and rocaille details (ormoulu).
