anxious to know more, staretd searching the web, discovered your website

Non so per quale motivo possa esistere un sito dedicato a questa "dame" della nobiltà francese e non ma comunque ad una parte di quella storia la femminile fatta di teste coronate perlopiù finite ahimé miseramente e tra le pieghe di una storia mai vera nè definitiiva. Una cosa è certa la finezza, l'eleganza di questi siti è travolgente. poi quei manoscritti e stampe e documenti messi a disposizione di tutti noi (e forse a questo che dovrebbe servire la rete) mi lasciano senza parole, Chi non ha dentro la segreta di un cassetto un documento raro da far vedere solo agli intimi magari gelosamente custodito in una cassaforte e restii a divulgare? Cosa dire di piu' di quello che è già stato detto? Il sito è molto bello, curato nei minimi dettagli con razionalità e amore. Finalmente qualcuno con cui condividere la mia passione per Madame e verso un secolo che terminerà con la rivoluzione. Un grande omaggio verso una donna sensibile,labororiosa che ha dato al regno di Luigi xv un grande impulso per l'arte, l'architettura, la moda e la pittura. Complimenti per la sua dedizione e per averci mostrato Madame nel suo intimo con le sue passioni,le sue virtu' e le sue debolezze. non) ma in particolare di madame de Pompadour!!!!ti sembrerà strano che un
ragazzo della mia età possa essere appassionato a un personaggio della
storia così "strano" (per il suo ruolo) e così intrigante, ma ne sono
appassionato da quando avevo dieci anni (praticamente da quando ho scoperto
una sua biografia in uno scaffale della libreria di casa mia!!!!). Volevo
farti i miei più vivi complimenti per questo fantastico sito, che devo dire

Thank you for your excellent "Madame de Pompadour" website! What a treasure trove! If I may, I would like to contribute to improving the site, first by correcting some grammatical and spelling errors in your English translations, and second, by suggesting other objects you may wish to include. Two notable omissions: -- Your website shows Mme de Pompadour depicted as "La sultana" by Carle van Loo, but misses the companion painting, "La conversation espagnole." Both were painted for overdoors at Bellevue, in the Grande Chambre, also known as "chambre a la turque." The Marquise left both paintings to her brother, who said these were the only two portraits to give a true likeness of her. They are at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Paris. -- The National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, USA, has a marble sculpture of her as Venus emerging from the sea. Underneath her swirl the seas and very large, monstrously ugly "poissons," recalling her family name, a sourceof much derision among the courtiers at Versailles, but a source of pride for the former Mlle Poisson. -- The Frick Collection on Fifth Avenue in New York City has a folding screen from her bedroom at Fontainebleau. Boucher decorated the panels on the screen with charming pictures of putti each engaging in activities Madame de Pompadour enjoyed: sculpture, painting, architecture, drawing, dance, music, astronomy, writing, and a few others. -- The title page of Volume VI (I believe) of Diderot's "Encyclopedie" is dedicated to Mme de Pompadour, and honors her as patroness of the enterprise. She cleverly convinced the King to lift the suppression of the Encyclopedia which had been forced on him by the Jesuits. One night, on returning from a hunt, one of the King's companions asked him if he knew how guns worked. No, the King allowed, he did not. Eyes turned to Mme de Pompadour. Did she know? No, she replied, smiling as always, she did not know, but she knew how to find out. She rang a bell and had servants bring in the volumes of the Encyclopedia which had already been published. They looked up "gunpowder." Satisfied by the technical explanation they found, the King and his friends looked up some other matters about which they wondered. They did that the whole night. The next day, the King lifted the suppression of the Encyclopedia. When the Encyclopedia resumed publication, Diderot honored her role. Would you know the answer to a question which vexes me? What were the colors of the coat-of-arms of the Marquise de Pompadour? My guess is they were gold castles on a field of blue. They could have been green castles on a field of green. Grazie per l'invio in futuro del CD sul libro di Mme de Pompadour, non appena sarete pronti vi darò i miei dati (e mi direte quanto vi devo). Devo dire che sebbene il sito sia appena all'inizio fa già un buon effetto. Originale la parte delle stampe e dei libri rari. Sarebbe interessante ampliare con il tempo la parte relativa alla Storia durante gli anni di vita di Mme de Pompadour. Amplierei anche la parte degli interventi personali sulla figura di Mme de Pompadour e di altri personaggi storici cercando di coinvolgere più persone possibile. Sì vivo in Italia e sono italianissima anche se amo molto la Francia e mi piacciono la storia, la cultura dei "nostri cugini d'oltralpe". Un caro saluto Paola |

Gentile Sig. Crivellin, sono andata subito a visitare il suo nuovo sito e lo trovo davvero straordinario! La grafica è bellissima ed essendo una studiosa di storia dell'arte sono andata subito a vedere la parte dedicata ai ritratti e alle sculture e l'ho trovata molto ben fatta ed esauriente. Ha realizzato un sito veramente fuori dal comune sia per i contenuti che per la ricerca. ......................................................... Naturalmente potrà sfruttare la mia idea della foto vicino a Maria Antonietta ed adattarla al suo sito, non c'è problema.
